SafeSpaceSalon
Fighting domestic
abuse one salon at a time!
#SafeSpaceSalon is a domestic abuse awareness campaign for the hair, health and beauty industry.
The campaign creates safe spaces where victims of domestic abuse can reach out for help by discretely ‘asking for Ria’.
SafeSpaceSalon
How does it work?
Ria Davies, founder of ASKRia and author of Black and Blue: Welsh Woman in London, delivers talks to salon teams across the UK and Ireland. The talks explain the different types of abuse, raise awareness, and show staff how to safely signpost victims to the appropriate support services when someone reaches out.
Why Salons?
For many victims of domestic abuse, a salon appointment is the only time away from their abuser. This creates a unique window of opportunity for victims suffering in silence to speak up and reach out for help safely.
Who is the support for?
The support is diverse and inclusive tailored for all domestic abuse victims this includes men, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, perpetrators and those experiencing faith based abuse.
